Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo has demonstrated his commitment to inclusive governance and development.

The Governor’s commitment is demonstrated via swift response to the pleas of the Igala Cultural Development Association (ICDA) regarding the Faculty of Medicine at Prince Abubakar Audu University (PAAU) in Anyigba.

The ICDA, on August 11th, 2025 was led by Deputy Governor, Comrade Joel Salifu Oyibo, requested the Governor’s intervention to revive the faculty of Medicine, which had been dormant due to accreditation issues with the National Universities Commission (NUC).

Governor Ododo, known for his dedication to all round development and without borders, expedited action and secured NUC approval for the MBBS program at PAAU, Anyigba.

This breakthrough was evident as the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) granted full approval for the program, allowing PAAU to admit its first cohort of 50 medical students for the 2025/2026 academic session, starting in October this year.

The State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abdulazeez Adams, hailed this development as a major victory for healthcare and medical education in the state, emphasizing that it marks the reactivation of medical training in PAAU and reinforces the state government’s commitment to expanding access to quality healthcare and education.

This achievement is but a credit to Governor Ododo’s administration, which has prioritized education and healthcare development in the state.

The approval of the MBBS program at PAAU is expected to strengthen the state’s capacity to train more Medical Doctors locally, address healthcare workforce shortages, and improve overall health outcomes for the people of Kogi State.

With his exemplary leadership, innovative policies, and unwavering dedication to the people of Kogi State, Governor Ododo has solidified his reputation as one of the most impactful Governors who knows no tribal, religious and political barriers in the Country.

As the State continues to thrive under his leadership, the people need not to forget the issue of continuity for sustainability come 2027.
