In a bid to strengthen collaboration and deepen conversations around primary health care delivery, the Executive Director of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), Dr. Muyi Aina, during his official visit to Kogi State, carved out valuable time for an engaging session with key stakeholders to improve access to quality care.

The Executive Director of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), Dr. Muyi Aina, has applauded the Kogi State Government for its remarkable investment in strengthening primary healthcare delivery across the state.

Dr. Aina gave this commendation during an interactive engagement with National Health Fellows (NHFs) and Performance & Financial Management Officers (PFMOs), held on Friday in Lokoja, as part of his official visit to the state. He described the government’s effort as “a giant stride in building resilient health systems,”noting that the revitalization of primary healthcare centers is key to ensuring quality services reach communities at the grassroots.

“We appreciate the state government’s unwavering commitment to revitalizing primary healthcare centers. This investment will not only improve healthcare access but also transform health outcomes for the people of Kogi State,” Aina said.

The NPHCDA boss also applauded President Bola Tinubu for his Renewed Health Sector Investment Initiative, which has created opportunities for young Nigerians to serve as Fellows and PFMOs, thereby strengthening health governance and accountability at the state level.

As part of his visit, Dr. Aina led an on-the-spot assessment visit to the revitalized Obuburu PHC, Idanuha Ward in Adavi LGA, where he expressed satisfaction with the quality of work and service readiness of the facility. He urged health workers to maximize the opportunity provided by government investment and make meaningful contributions to their communities.

Welcoming the NPHCDA delegation, the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Dr. Adams Abdulazeez Adeiza, reaffirmed the state’s commitment to healthcare reform, stressing that the partnership with NPHCDA will further enhance service delivery.

In the same vein, the Executive Director of the Kogi State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr. Mu’azu Omeiza Musa, commended Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for his sustained investment in the state’s health sector. He called on the federal government and development partners to provide additional support to consolidate the ongoing achievements.

The visit underscored the strong collaboration between the federal and state governments towards building a robust primary healthcare system that delivers quality, accessible, and sustainable services to every citizen.

The session was further enriched by the presence of the Honourable Commissioner for Health (host), Dr. Adams Abdullazeez Adeiza, the Executive Director of the Kogi State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr. Mu’azu Omeiza Musa, Kogi State SWAP Desk Officer, Dr. Bola Kelvin Jonah Emmanuel, and Chief Medical Directors from leading tertiary and specialist institutions—CUSTECH-TH, KSSH, and PAAUTH. Also in attendance were the State Coordinator of NPHCDA Kogi State and other distinguished partners who demonstrated strong alignment with the agency’s vision.
