The Federal Project Coordinating Unit of the Nigeria for Women Program Scale-Up Project (NFWP-SU) has issued an urgent warning to Nigerians to beware of a fraudulent social media link currently being circulated and falsely promising free grants to women in business.

In a statement signed by National Project Coordinator Hadiza Maina (PhD) on December 30, 2025, and distributed to Kogi State Project Coordinating Units, categorically disclaimed the scam.

“The attention of the general public is drawn to a link currently circulating on social media platforms, which falsely claims to offer grants and empowerment opportunities under the Nigeria for Women Scale-Up Project (NFWP-SU).

After verification against national safeguards and security protocols, NFWP-SU confirmed the link is fraudulent despite its convincing appearance. The project stressed it charges no application fees and operates solely through official channels, never unofficial websites or links” the statement reads.

Dr. Maina urged State Project Coordinating Units (SPCUs), Local Project Implementation Units (LPIUs), partners, beneficiaries, and stakeholders to ignore the scam entirely and rely only on verified NFWP-SU communications. Official contacts include: platforms.fpcu@nfwp.gov.ng, hadiza.maina@nfwp.gov.ng, and tolulope.obe@nfwp.gov.ng.

Dr. Maina maintained that the project is committed to transparency and accountability, protecting women and communities from fraud. Women interested in support must self-select into groups called Women’s Affinity Groups (WAGs), no fees, no links, no payments required.

Echoing the national call, Kogi State Project Coordinator Dr. (Mrs.) Esther Ameadaji advised residents to visit the State Project Coordinating Unit at Plot 3, Salihu Ibrahim Way (adjacent to the Deputy Governor’s Office) for verified information. She also recommended tuning into local radio stations for broadcasts or calling 07052803847 for guidance. “Women self-select into WAGs, no money changes hands, and no links are requested,” Dr. Ameadaji emphasized.

Stay vigilant: Verify all NFWP-SU updates directly with officials to avoid falling victim.
