NEMA, Kogi SEMA Host Stakeholders Engagement ahead of 2026 Flood prediction, commends Gov. Ododo on increased budgetary allocation

  The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and Kogi State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) have held a one-day stakeholders meeting in Lokoja, Kogi State, to discuss flood preparedness and response plans for 2026. SEMA Executive Secretary, Alhaji Mouktar Atimah, who welcomed stakeholders, acknowledged their efforts in managing the 2025 flood and called for continued collaboration. He acknowledged that the State government's improved budgetary allocation would enhance response efforts. Alhaji Abubakar Zakari, Head of Operations, NEMA Abuja, emphasized the importance of cooperation, stating that last year's flood response was inadequate. He called for robust collaboration and highlighted that disaster management should focus on accidents, fire outbreaks, wind and rainstorms, and not just floods.
