The Kogi State Government is dedicated to integrating expert observations and professional measures to enhance flood resilience

Dr. Abdulazeez Adams Adeiza, the Kogi State Commissioner, affirmed this commitment during a meeting with representatives from the Heinrich Böll Foundation and Arctic Infrastructure. The purpose of the meeting was to validate the “Ganaja community’s charter of demand for flood resilience”.

During the meeting, the Commissioner, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Mrs. Omenike Dorcas Enehe, highlighted the State Government’s efforts to construct several flood-resistant Primary Health Care Centers. These centers aim to address the health needs of communities like Ganaja, whose existing facilities have been damaged by previous flooding.

The Commissioner emphasized that Governor Usman Ahmed Ododo’s administration prioritizes the health of the State’s residents. He expressed gratitude to Arctic Infrastructure for their intervention and assured a collaborative effort to enhance flood resilience and mitigation.

Ms. Eunice Agbogun, Executive Director of Challenged Parenthood Initiative, a partner of Heinrich Böll Foundation and Arctic Infrastructure, also spoke at the meeting. She emphasized the importance of implementing the outcomes of the engagement with the Ganaja Community to improve flood resilience and mitigation in Primary Health Care Centers across the State.

In addition to the Ganaja Community, Heinrich Böll Foundation and Arctic Infrastructure have engaged with other organizations, including the
Geographical Information System, Ministry of Environment, State Universal Basic Education Board and the Ministry of Environment and Ecological Management as well as the Ministry of Finance, Budget and Economic Planning
