The Kogi State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to prioritizing the health and welfare of women and children, emphasizing that every life is invaluable. Dr. Abdulazeez Adams Adeiza, the Honourable Coordinating Commissioner for Health in Kogi State, conveyed this message through the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health during a welcome address to a delegation from the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, Abuja. The delegation visited Kogi State to assess three Basic Health Care Provision Fund facilities across three Local Government Areas: Ibaji, Ajaokuta, and Ijumu. The objective of the visit was to identify the root causes of maternal and under-five mortality and to propose urgent corrective measures. The Permanent Secretary highlighted the critical importance of protecting the lives of women and children under five, reiterating the Kogi State Government's dedication to providing necessary support for the team. The Federal Government delegation, led by Dr. Abraham Ahmadu from the National SWAP Coordination Office, is conducting a thorough evaluation of selected primary health care facilities as earlier stated. This initiative is in line with federal policy aimed at preventing maternal deaths during childbirth and eradicating preventable diseases and illnesses in children under five. Dr. Ahmadu noted that the Honorable Minister of Health and Social Welfare emphasized that the loss of a single woman or child must be investigated.
