The Kogi State Commissioner for Works, Hon. Engr. Mohammed Ahovi Yusuf recently conducted an inspection of the Okaito-Obangede road project on 14-08-2024. During the inspection, he expressed his disappointment at the slow progress of the work and the use of substandard materials.
In his statement, Hon. Engr. Mohammed Ahovi Yusuf expressed his concern regarding the lack of significant progress on the project. He emphasized his disappointment with the slow pace of work and the unprofessionalism displayed by the contractors.
It is imperative that we ensure that the resources allocated to this project are utilized effectively. Therefore, I urge you to replace all inferior materials that have been identified with appropriate ones before my next visit. Failure to do so may result in the project being reassigned to a more competent contractor. Time is of the essence, and we must ensure that this project is completed in a timely manner.
Accompanied by his Technical Assistant, Engr. Anthony Sule, the Commissioner, inspected the project site and noted several instances of non-compliance with agreed-upon standards. He directed the contractors to rectify these issues promptly, warning of potential project revocation if improvements are not made.
Furthermore, the Commissioner addressed the Resident Engineer, stressing the importance of maintaining strict oversight to guarantee the quality of the project.
This inspection follows a previous visit to Kogi West for a routine check, highlighting the Commissioner’s commitment to ensuring that all projects meet the required standards.
