Kogi State Strengthens Commitment to Enhanced Healthcare Services.

Dr. Abdulazeez Adams Adeiza, the Commissioner for Health in Kogi State, has praised Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s administration for its dedication to healthcare development in the state.

During the launch of the second round of the 2024 Maternal and Child Health Week, Dr. Abdulazeez acknowledged the challenges within the health sector but remained optimistic about the state government’s initiatives to enhance health outcomes.

“We are dedicated to ensuring that our primary healthcare services are accessible, fair, and of superior quality,” Dr. Abdulazeez stated. “We will continue to collaborate with development partners, traditional rulers, and religious leaders to support the Advancing Healthcare Initiative for Equality and Employment in Kogi State.”

The Health Commissioner expressed his appreciation to Governor Ododo for his steadfast commitment to improving health outcomes in Kogi State. He urged ongoing cooperation among stakeholders to create a healthier future for the citizens of Kogi State.

The event was attended by various partners, including the World Health Organization (WHO), UNICEF, traditional rulers, and religious leaders. These partners delivered messages of goodwill, applauding the state government’s efforts to enhance healthcare services.

Pharm. Raji Muktar, the representative of the State Coordinator of WHO, highlighted the significant progress made by the state in health indicators for 2023, particularly in maternal and child health initiatives. “We are honored to collaborate with the Kogi State Government to enhance healthcare services for its citizens,” Pharm .Muktar remarked.

Dr. Adeleye Steven Olumide, the Kogi State UNICEF coordinator emphasized UNICEF’s substantial contributions in routine immunization and vaccine logistics. While promising that UNICEF will continue to support the state government in its endeavors to improve healthcare services for children and mothers.

The Ohiegba of Mosum Alhaji Bukar Khalid, a traditional ruler, commended the state government’s efforts to improve healthcare services and pledged their support for the Advancing Healthcare Initiative.

Representatives of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and Jamaatul Nasirul Islam also commended the state government’s commitment to healthcare development and pledged to continue working together to improve health outcomes.

The flag-off ceremony was part of the state government’s efforts to reduce maternal and child mortality rates and improve healthcare services for vulnerable populations. The event marked the beginning of a week-long campaign to provide essential healthcare services to mothers and children across the state.
