The Kogi State Government has commenced a comprehensive On-the-Job Training program for the staff of the Government House, as part of its efforts to digitize the civil service and enhance good governance. The training, which was flagged off on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at the Government House, Lokoja is aimed at equipping staff with the necessary skills and knowledge to improve their performance and efficiency. The Director General of Government House Administration, Adm. Umaru Oricha Shuaibu, Ph.D, FCIA, emphasized the importance of On-the-Job Training in his opening remarks. According to him, "Training refers to the process of teaching or developing skills, knowledge, or behaviors in individuals or groups. It involves instructions which guide learners through new concepts or skills, and gives room for practice which provides opportunities to apply what has been learned." Adm. Shuaibu highlighted the benefits of On-the-Job Training, including practical application, reduced theory gap, and improved retention. He also expressed gratitude to Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for approving and releasing funds for the training, saying, "We need to appreciate God Almighty in the first instance for this on-the-job training programme we just organized. I believe that after this programme, workers will not remain the same again, there will be a change of mindset and change of approach to Civil Service rules and regulations." He said.
