The Kogi State Drugs and Medical Supplies Management Agency has launched a Last Mile Delivery initiative aimed at improving the distribution of medical supplies to public health facilities throughout the state.
This strategic approach is designed to ensure timely fulfillment of hospital demands, strengthen the supply chain, reduce transportation costs, alleviate the burden of collecting drugs from the state warehouse in Lokoja, and guarantee that medications reach the appropriate patients efficiently.
The initiative encompasses secondary hospitals across the state’s three senatorial districts, including zonal hospitals, general hospitals, cottage hospitals, comprehensive health centers, colleges of health, and tertiary health institutions.
This significant achievement has been made possible through the support of Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, the Honorable Coordinating Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abdulazeez Adams Adeiza, and the dedicated staff of the agency.
Hospital management teams have expressed their appreciation to the state government for not only providing essential drugs and medical consumables but also ensuring their delivery directly to hospital doorsteps. They regard this initiative as unique and unprecedented. Additionally, they commended the diligent efforts of the Executive Secretary, Pharmacist Salamat Onize Ibrahim, along with the warehouse officers and other agency staff, for their prompt response to demands, facilitated by the online requisition platform and available transportation, thereby making the supply chain system efficient and seamless.
The agency remains committed to ensuring the continuous availability of drugs in the state and is dedicated to participating in the pool procurement, group purchasing system practices adopted by almost all drug management agencies in the country with the Pharmaceutical Manufacturer Group of Nigeria – Manufactuer Union of Nigeria ( PMG- MAN) to ensure quality drugs are delivered to the agency with good quality, affordability and accessibility considered
