New Corps members deployed to Kogi State have been charged to promote National integration and be selfless in their service to the Nation.

Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo gave the charge at the swearing-in ceremony of the Batch B, Stream Two, Corps members at the NYSC permanent orientation Camp, Asaya in Kabba Local Government Area.

Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo who was represented by Kogi State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Monday AridaOjo Anyebe said NYSC remains One of Nigeria’s most successful Nation – building programme of over five decades that has promoted national integration.

He encouraged them to be selfless in their services to their host communities and the Nation at large.

The Governor urged the new Corps members to embrace the value of discipline, hard work and community service during and after their service year in Kogi State.

Governor Ododo advised them to be good ambassadors of their families, institutions and their States of origin, saying their conduct should reflect on integrity, tolerance and hard work to further demonstrate their Commitment to the unity and progress of their father land.

He noted that under his leadership through the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, over Ten thousand Youths have been trained in various Vocations and Advanced Technology at the Nigeria- Korea Friendship Institute in Kogi State.

The Governor added that his administration has also through the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development supported the NYSC scheme in Kogi State with food items towards ensuring improved welfare of Corps members serving in the state.

Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo said his Government was mindful of the security challenges facing the Country, stressing that measures would be taken to forestall breakdown of law and order during and after their Orientation course and service Year in Kogi state.

The Governor advised the Corps members to cooperate fully with security agencies in the camp in order to have a hitch free orientation exercise, adding that his administration will always do her best to ensure that the newly posted Corps members have a memorable stay in the state.

“As you wear the khaki , remember: you are the face of a better Nigeria, One that is united, progressive and filled with promise” , the Governor remarked.

The Governor also commended the NYSC Kogi State Governing Board, the management of the scheme and other Collaborating Agencies as well as staff of NYSC for their determination and commitment at guiding the youths towards taking their rightful place as Leaders of the great nation.

Speaking, Kogi State coordinator of the NYSC scheme, Mr. Femi Osungbohun, appealed to the state government to always support the scheme towards enhancing their performance and improve the welfare of the Corps members serving in the state at all times.

Mr. Femi Osungbohun charged the Corps members to be disciplined and take their Orientation course seriously for a better tomorrow.

Over One Thousand, Eight Hundred Corps members are posted to Kogi State for their National Youth service scheme in the batch.
