Kogi State Council of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC has honoured the State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo as workers in the State mark the 2025 May Day celebration.
The Award of Excellence was conferred on the Governor on Thursday at the Muhammadu Buhari Civic Center, Lokoja in recognition of his immense commitment to the welfare of workers and pensioners of Kogi State.
The State Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Comrade Gabriel Amari, while presenting the award to the Governor, expressed appreciation to the Governor for his lanark achievements within a short period in office, saying the attention to workers was unprecedented.
The Kogi NLC boss stated that the honour on the Governor was in real appreciation, noting that it would also serve as a morale booster.
Comrade Amari expressed optimism that workers would benefit more under the present administration in view of its positive disposition to the workers welfare.
Responding, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo expressed appreciation to the organized Labour, saying his administration will strife to meet the yearning and aspirations of the workforce.
Governor Ododo who expressed delight over the development, added that he will remain committed to the overall development of the state.
Special Adviser to the Governor on Labour matters, Comrade Onuh Edoka said Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo deserved the award as he was the first to approve and implement the new national minimum wage in the Country.
Comrade Edoka commended the Governor for appointing labour leaders into key positions under his administration and assured that they will not disappoint the state.
