The Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Hon. Kingsley Femi Fanwo, has described the church as a true place of joy and spiritual strength, emphasizing that empowering the church can contribute significantly to curbing insecurity in society.
The Hon. Commissioner made this remark at the Christ Apostolic Church, Oke-Iyanu, Aiyeteju Amuro, in Mopamuro Local Government Area.
According to him, “The church has a role to play. The only place you can be truly happy is in the house of God. It is where you can dance before Him, forget your challenges, and find strength to replace sorrow. Therefore, the church can help in curbing insecurity in society. When we strengthen the house of God, we de-populate the ranks of those involved in crime.”
Hon. Fanwo expressed appreciation to the pastor in charge and the entire congregation for their continuous prayers and support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, Governor of Kogi State. He urged the faithful to keep interceding for the nation’s leaders as they remain committed to bringing transformative development across Nigeria and Kogi State.
He stated, “Church, thank you for praying for our leaders. When you pray for your leaders, you are praying for yourself. When you curse them, it also comes back to you. So, it is always better to pray for them. Continue to pray for President Bola Tinubu and the Chief Servant of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo. Pray also for the Executive Chairman of our local government that God will strengthen him to do more for our people.”
In his sermon titled “Take Away Reproach and Shame from My Life,” Pastor Olorunfemi Isaiah, the minister in charge, described reproach as a stigma that brings unpleasant situations into a person’s life. Citing Hannah in the Holy Bible as an example of one who overcame reproach through patience, humility, and giving, he charged the congregation to cultivate the habit of cheerful giving and perseverance.
Hon. Fanwo, moved by the atmosphere of worship, pledged to donate a brand new Yamaha Keyboard and a Mixer Equalizer to the church, to be delivered immediately.
He was accompanied by the Special Adviser to Governor Ododo, Hon. Moses Sunday David, along with other state and local government appointees.
