Kogi State Head of Service, Dr Elijah Evinemi has emphasized the vital role of civil service as a divine calling dedicated to the service of humanity and the advancement of society.
He stated this at the special Sunday service to mark the 2025 Civil Service week, held at the Unity Chapel, State Secretariat, Lokoja., adding that he will strive to inspire a renewed sense of purpose and commitment among the state’s civil servants.
The event, attended by various stakeholders and civil servants highlighted the importance of integrity, accountability, and the need for civil servants to conduct themselves in a manner that reflects their valued role within the community.
The Head of Service noted, “Every civil servant should view their profession not only as a job but as a sacred duty to God and the people of Kogi State. We are entrusted with the responsibility to uplift and serve our communities, to ensure that our actions contribute positively to the lives of our fellow citizens.”
He further underscored core values such as dedication, transparency, and empathy, while urging civil servants to maintain a strong moral compass while executing their duties.
“When we perceive our roles through the lens of service to God and humanity, it helps us to foster a culture of respect, compassion, and mutual support within our ranks,” he added.
The Preacher Pastor Dan Onuchi urged Civil servants to embrace the digitalization of the Kogi service, adding that civic servants need to consider their ways by been dedicated to their work.
The special Church Service came to an end with divine prayer session by Justice Samuel Obayomi for His Excellency, Alh. Ahmed Usman Ododo FCA, the Head of Civil Service, the permanent secretaries, civil servants, the state of the nation and that of Kogi state.
