*By Saadatu Jumai** In a significant initiative aimed at enhancing the marine transportation sector and ensuring the safety of residents in riverine areas, the Kogi State Ministry of Transportation has received four state-of-the-art fiberglass boats and essential life jackets from the National Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (N_HYPACDDEC). The official handover ceremony took place today at Muhammad Buhari Square. During the event, Mr. Michael Ajayi Omeiza, the Acting State Coordinator of N_HYPACDDEC, expressed the Commission's enthusiasm for the delivery of these operational flying boats, each equipped with eight outboard motor engines. He emphasized that this initiative is designed to strengthen inland water transportation and create safer waterways, thereby significantly enhancing transport infrastructure and positively impacting communities along the state's waterways. "This initiative aligns perfectly with your ministry's objectives," he stated. "We eagerly anticipate your continued support and additional partnerships to ensure the safety and integrity of the maritime sector in our state." In receiving the fiberglass boats, Hon. Atuluku Victor Levi, the Commissioner for Transportation, reaffirmed the state government's commitment to revitalizing the transportation sector. He hailed the delivery of the four fiberglass boats and life jackets as a monumental achievement in enhancing water transportation.
