As part of the current administration’s initiative to enhance healthcare delivery, particularly at the grassroots level in Kogi State, a Task Force on Primary Health Care Services has been inaugurated to ensure the effective implementation of public health programs.
During the inauguration ceremony held in Lokoja, Kogi State’s Deputy Governor, Comrade Joel Salifu, urged the committee members to collaborate in building a healthier and more resilient Kogi State.
He emphasized that the establishment of this committee represents a significant step forward, reflecting the administration’s commitment to the well-being of its citizens.
“Healthcare is not merely a social service; it is a vital component of our state’s development,” Comrade Joel stated. He highlighted that by strengthening the primary healthcare system, the state can improve health outcomes, reduce mortality rates, and enhance the overall quality of life for its residents.
The Deputy Governor outlined that the Task Force will play a crucial role in coordinating and overseeing various primary healthcare activities, including immunization, maternal and child health, disease prevention and control, and health promotion.
He assured the committee members of the administration’s dedication to making a meaningful impact in these areas.
Dr. Abdulazeez Adams, the State Commissioner for Health, noted that the Task Force will serve as a platform for inter-sectoral coordination and collaboration, ensuring that directives from relevant authorities translate into tangible improvements in primary healthcare services at the state level.
He also announced that similar inter-sectoral coordination committees would be established at the local government level to facilitate the effective implementation of primary healthcare programs.
Earlier, Dr. Muazu Musa, the Executive Director of the Kogi State Primary Health Care Development Agency, expressed his gratitude to Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for his leadership and unwavering commitment to advancing healthcare in the state.
