Over One Thousand, One hundred and Sixty Six Corps members serving in kogi State are to receive twenty thousand Naira each.
Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo disclosed this on Tuesday during the closing ceremony of the Twenty Twenty five Batch “A’ stream O
ne corps members Orientation Course at the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Camp, Asaya, Kabba.
Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo said the gesture was to encourage the corps members in facilitating their movement to their various places of primary assignments.
The Governor who was Represented by his Deputy, Elder Joel Salifu Oyibo at the ceremony said the present administration remains committed to the growth and development of youths in the state and even beyond.
Governor Ododo said his government will reward hardworking corps members that are dedicated and honest during their service year in the state.
He said his government will continue to accord attention to the serving corps members by supporting their course at all times and advised the corps members not to involve themselves in any act that will affect their future during and after their service year in the state.
Governor Ododo also assured them of their safety while in kogi State, saying his government is committed to the security of lives and property of the people of the state.
According to the Governor, Kogi State is known for its hospitality and urged them to live freely during their service year.
Governor Ododo enjoined them to cooperate with those at their places of assignment so as to contribute their quota to the growth and development of Kogi State.
The Governor expressed appreciation to the Kogi State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Monday Anyebe for his quality leadership in Youth and Sports Development in the state and advised him to sustain the efforts.
Governor Ododo equally thanked the State Coodinator of the NYSC , the Army officials and other security agencies for their quality contribution towards the success of the NYSC scheme in the state and restated his commitment to the growth and progress of the scheme in the state.
Also Speaking, the State Commissioner of Youth and Sports who is also the Chairman NYSC Kogi State Governing Board, Hon. Monday Anyebe said what Kogi State government expects from them is to exhibit the highest level of discipline, dedication and commitment in the discharge of their National Assignment during and after their service year in the state.
Hon Monday Anyebe appealed to all employers of labour to see the Corps members as their children and provide adequate welfare to them to enable the corps members contribute their quota to the growth and development of Kogi State.
He urged the corps members to take their community Development Service seriously and make positive impact in their host communities.
Hon. Monday Anyebe commended Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for carrying corps members along in the scheme of things, saying the Governor has done well through the gesture.
In his speech, the Kogi state Coodinator of NYSC, Mr. Femi Osungbohun described the contribution of Kogi State government to the growth and progress of NYSC in the state as impressive, saying the office is pleased with the present administration under Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo.
Some of the corps members, while speaking to journalists thanked Kogi State Governor for his fatherly roles by giving them sense of belonging in his government.
