The Kogi State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to advancing medical education and healthcare delivery, pledging full support to ensure that the Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH) Teaching Hospital, Okene, secures Clinical Accreditation from the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN). The assurance was given by the State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abdulazeez Adams Adeiza, during a two-day Joint Committee Meeting held on April 10 and 11, 2026, at the Teaching Hospital in Okene, where he also served as Chairman. Dr. Abdulazeez commended the leadership of CUSTECH, Osara, for its commitment to the take-off and growth of the College of Medicine, describing the accreditation process as a critical milestone toward producing highly skilled medical professionals in the state. He emphasized the need for stronger collaboration between the university and the teaching hospital, noting that synergy between both institutions remains key to achieving clinical accreditation. The Vice Chancellor of CUSTECH, Osara, Engr. Prof. Abdulrahman Asipita Salawu, acknowledged the foundational role played by former Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello in initiating the construction of the teaching hospital. He also praised Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for his decisive support in ensuring the successful take-off of the College of Medicine.
