In a bold show of support for women, youths, and students in agriculture, the First Lady of Kogi State, Her Excellency Hajia Sefinat Usman Ododo, has launched an audacious agricultural empowerment programme aimed at boosting food production and economic prosperity in the state.
Speaking at the flag-off event, the Kogi First Lady described the initiative as “planting hope and empowerment,” noting that it goes beyond tools and funds to inspire lasting transformation. “Today is not just about handing over implements; it is about proving that women are better farmers and that our youths and students can drive the future of agriculture,” she said.
The initiative, which includes the distribution of farm tools, agrochemicals, and financial support, is targeted at scaling productivity and wealth creation. The First Lady also announced the launch of a data portal to capture female agricultural students in the state’s tertiary institutions, describing agriculture as “our new oil.”
“This is women’s inclusion in action and youth empowerment with impact,” she declared, affirming her commitment to sustained support and practical solutions.
She dedicated the empowerment programme to the First Lady of the Federation, Her Excellency Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, referring to her as “the mother of the nation” and a symbol of strength and inspiration.
“Our land will not just be green, it will be golden,” Hajia Sefinat Ododo said amid commendation by the beneficiaries and dignitaries at the event.
