KOGI: COUNCIL CHAIR HAILS ODODO’S VISIT, SWIFT ACTION ON SECURITY THREATS

The Executive Chairman of Yagba West Local Government Area, Hon. Tosin Olokun, has commended Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, for his visit to the local government and his prompt, decisive intervention following recent security breaches in the area.

Olokun gave the commendation on Friday during a high-level security stakeholders’ meeting held in Odo-Ere, the local government headquarters. Governor Ododo was represented at the meeting by the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mr. Kingsley Femi Fanwo, who conveyed the administration’s renewed commitment to restoring peace and stability in Yagba West.

The local government chairman appreciated the governor for standing by Yagba West and its people.

“We are deeply grateful to His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, for standing by the people of Yagba West during this trying time. His visit, swift response, logistical support, and reassurance have boosted the morale of our people and strengthened our local security architecture,” Olokun stated.

He emphasized that the local government would continue to work in synergy with the state government, security agencies, and community vigilante groups to ensure the complete defeat of criminal elements operating in the area.

“As a local government, we are not folding our hands. We will continue to secure our territory with all resources available. The safety and well-being of our people remain our top priority,” he added.

Olokun urged residents to stay vigilant and to support the state’s Community Security Initiative actively. He also appealed to political stakeholders to avoid politicizing security matters.

“This is not the time for division or blame games. Security is a shared responsibility, and we must all unite to protect our land,” he said.

Governor Ododo, in his remarks delivered at the meeting, said the state government had already initiated bold actions to tackle insecurity across Kogi State, stressing that criminal elements would find no safe haven.

“You did not vote for me to give excuses when your security is threatened, but to take decisive actions to protect you. That is exactly what I am doing, and we won’t relent until we dislodge every agent of insecurity,” the governor stated.

He thanked President Bola Tinubu, the National Security Adviser, and the service chiefs for their support in mobilizing resources to confront the security threats in the region. He also praised the local hunters for their bravery, coordination, and patriotism.

Olokun concluded by expressing deep appreciation to the governor for the visit and reaffirmed the local government’s determination to continue working in partnership with the state to safeguard Yagba West and foster lasting development.
