More than one hundred athletes from Kogi State have left Lokoja for the 2025 National Youth Games in Asaba.
Over Twenty different games will participated at the event.
Addressing the athletes and officials at the Lokoja township stadium Lokoja before departed for the game Kogi State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon Aridaojo Monday Anyebe, assured the contingent that government will prioritize their welfare during the competition.
Hon Aridaojo Monday Anyebe urged the athletes to be good ambassadors of the state during and after the games.
The Commissioner charged them to for Gold saying the present administration under Governor Usman Ododo is committed to the growth and development of sporting activities in the state.
Hon Aridaojo Monday Anyebe said what people of the Kogi state and sports lovers needs from them is total victory.
The Youth and Sports Commissioner advised them to make the people of Kogi proud by winning medals at the event.
Also speaking, the Kogi State Director Sports Council, James Abel Igah, encouraged the athletes to put in their best and bring home more medals.
Mr. James Able Egah thanked the State Governor Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo for his support to the sporting activities in the state.
Mr Egah also espressed appreciation to the State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development Hon Aridaojo Monday Anyebe for his commitment and dedication to the growth and progress of sporting activities in the state and promise to represent Kogi State well at the competition in Asaba.
Speaking on behalf of the athletes Samson Joshua thanked Kogi State government for the offer and promised that they will strive to win medals and make the state proud.
