This significant public health initiative aims to protect children and adolescents throughout the state from vaccine-preventable diseases.
The ceremony, led by His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, Executive Governor of Kogi State, highlighted the administration’s dedication to ensuring the health and well-being of every child and adolescent in the region. This campaign represents a crucial step towards eradicating vaccine-preventable diseases and safeguarding young girls against cervical cancer through the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine.
During the state flag-off event at the Old Market PHC in Lokoja, Governor Ododo emphasized the vaccination campaign as a renewed commitment to saving lives and enhancing primary healthcare across the state. He stated that it symbolizes “a commitment to life, health, and the future of Kogi State.”

Governor Ododo appealed to parents, caregivers, and traditional and religious leaders to support the campaign, assuring them that the vaccines are entirely free, safe, and essential for every eligible child. He expressed gratitude to development partners and health workers for their unwavering support and dedication to improving the well-being of Kogi’s citizens.
