
The people of the state, Religious organizations and local communities have been urged to play critical roles in sustaining effort of government in ensuring lasting primary health care service delivery.
The Executive Director, Kogi State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr Muazu Omeiza Musa gave the advice at the commissioning of 80 Revitalized Primary Health Care Facilities, Stakeholders Engagement Meeting, State Leadership Challenge Awards for Local Government Areas and official Handover of Health Equipment and Commodities donated by the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare and the National Primary Health Care Development Agency at Government House, Lokoja.
Dr Muazu Omeiza Musa called on Stakeholder to keep sensitizing the people on their roles, responsibilities and commitment to the people and ensuring the safety of the Commodities and facilities handed over to them.
He noted that the commissioning of the 80 Primary Health Centers and revitalization are taken from level 1 to level 2 as first Phase using PHC Old Market, Lokoja as a prototype.
According to him, this means in the nearby future, phase 2 of these facilities will also be commissioned.
While commending President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his tireless effort at ensuring that the people enjoys sustainable and affordable health care services, the Executive Director also appreciated His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo for prioritizing health and always ready to heed the call of the Agency noting that his exemplary leadership style is worthy of emulation and promised to keep the flag of Kogi State flying as the Agency renders services at all times.
He thanked the support from the world Bank assisted project – the IMPACT project and the National Primary Health Care Development Agency for making the event possible.
The Executive Director expressed joy that the facilities now have staff quarters to ensure 24 hours service, borehole for steady water supply, solar for uninterrupted power, parameter fencing to secure the service provision environment and then a security post stressing that by the grace of God, maternal, Infant and child mortality will be brought to its barest minimum as timely interventions are closer than ever before.
On stakeholders engagement, he said stakeholder meetings are being conducted to keep sensitizing the people on their roles, responsibilities and commitment.
In a speech, the Commissioner of Health, Dr. Abdulazeez Adams Adeiza advised stakeholders to ensure that the vision and mission of government is sustained and maintained.
Also speaking, the Executive Director, National Primary Health care Development Agency, Dr Muyi Aina commended the Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo for always engaging the people in dialogues noting that his style of leadership was exemplary.
High point of the event was an award presentation to Ajaokuta, Ogorimagongo, from the Central, Ofu and Bassa from the East and Kogi and Mopa-Amuro from the western senatorial districts for their outstanding performance in the health sector while the overall best local government in the leadership Challenge Awards goes to Ogorimagongo Local government Area.
There was cultural dances and the official commissioning of the 80 Primary Health Centers revitalization using PHC Old Market, Lokoja as a prototype by his Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo.
