The Kogi State Primary Health care Development Agency took the state by storm in what seemed to be an epoch making event of the year when it hosted the Commissioning of over 80 revitalized primary healthcare centers across the state, held a Stakeholders engagement meeting towards strengthening the PHC system in the state, Presented certificates of recognition to outstanding primary healthcare personnel in the state, Presented awards to winning LGAs as performing agents of the Kogi state PHC leadership challenge award and the handing over of basic healthcare equipment and family planning health commodities donated by the Federal ministry of health/NPHCDA to the state.

The revitalized facilities has a clinic, staff residence, perimeter fencing with a gate house, bore hole for portable and consistent water supply and a 10kva solar system meant to provide uninterrupted power supply.

All these is aimed at providing a 24 hour quality, accessible and basic healthcare services to the people of the resident areas where the facilities exist and done with a comprehensive stakeholders engagement session aimed at getting feedback from the people and discussing ways to protect, own, and participate fully in the PHCs service delivery system.

Some PHC health personnel who have distinguished themselves in their line of duty were also recognized with certificates of recognition signed by the governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo with some financial benefits.

In the awards, Ogori-Magongo LGA came first with Ajaokuta LGA coming second from the Central senatorial district while Bassa and Ofu LGA came first and second from the Eastern Senatorial district and Mopa-Muro and Kogi LGA coming first and second from the Western Senatorial district of the state with the Overall best position going to Ogorimagongo
LGA.

Speaking during the event, Kogi state government expressed sincere appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his relentless effort towards improving the health system in the country.

Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo noted that the minister for health and social welfare, Prof. Muhammed Ali Pate has continued to demonstrate his commitments towards building a resilient health sector in the country.

The Executive Director of Kogi State Primary Health care Development Agency, Dr Muazu Omeiza Musa in an address, thanked the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare and National Primary Health Care Development Agency for the quantum of health equipment and commodities to be handed over by the Executive Director and Chief Executive of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency – Dr Muyi Aina.

He stressed that the impact being made at the National level is being felt and the value added to the state was commendable saying It will go a long way in complementing the provision to other facilities not IMPACT supported.

The Executive Director opinned that the governor also commissioned medical equipment for the 88 revitalized facilities supported by the IMPACT project saying With these from the National quarters, other facilities will be considered based on needs analysis.

He emphasized that the administration of His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, a health friendly governor has consistently shown commitment towards improving the health outcomes of the Kogi people through his sincere support to the health sector.

He thanked all development partners and the various stakeholders for joining hands through the spirit of Sector Wide Approach (SWAp) to build an effective and sustainable health system for all.

In attendance at the event was the Executive Director, National Primary Health care Development Agency, Dr Muyi Aina, top government functionaries, stakeholders and partners, traditional heads, religious leaders and the hard working staff of the state Primary Health care Development Agency.

The one day event witnessed dance drama by the state cultural troupe and other side attractions that made the day a glamorous one.
