As the sun rose over Okene, Kogi State, on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, the atmosphere was somber, filled with mourning and respect. Thousands of sympathizers gathered to bid farewell to Alhaji Ahmed Momoh Sani Ododo, the father of Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, who passed away on Monday, August 18, 2025, at the ripe age of 83.

Deputy Governor Comrade Joel Salifu was among the dignitaries who attended the burial ceremony, joining Governor Ododo and former Governor Yahaya Bello in paying their last respects to the late patriarch. Security was tightened in Adavi and Okene Local Government Areas as security personnel worked tirelessly to maintain order and ensure a smooth procession of mourners.

The burial ceremony, commenced at the residence of the deceased in Kabba Junction and was attended by top government officials, traditional leaders, journalists, and residents. The late Alhaji Ahmed Momoh Sani Ododo’s remains were brought from Abuja for the Islamic funeral prayers before interment

In a show of solidarity, government officials and traditional leaders came together to console Governor Ododo and his family during this difficult time. The Commissioner for Information and Communications, Hon. Kingsley Fanwo, confirmed the passing of the governor’s father, describing him as a devout Muslim who would be buried in line with Islamic traditions.

As the people of Kogi State bid farewell to Alhaji Ahmed Momoh Sani Ododo, they remembered him as a respected community leader who lived a peaceful and impactful life. May his legacy live on, and may Allah grant his family patience and fortitude during this challenging period .
