The Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, today graced the funeral service of Her Royal Highness, Olori Marie Ige Owoniyi, FCA, the wife of the Obaro of Kabba and Chairman of the Okun Area Traditional Council, His Royal Majesty Oba Solomon Dele Owoniyi, at the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, Cathedral Church of St. Andrew, Odolu Kabba, in Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area.

The Governor was represented by his Deputy, Comrade Joel Salifu, and was accompanied by Hon. Shehu Seidu Amodu, the Member representing Ofu State Constituency in the State House of Assembly; Hon. Acharu Okpanachi, Commissioner for Culture and Tourism; Hon. Muhammed Nasiru Alfa, Director General of Kogi State Community Watch and Ancillary Matters; Comrade Onuh Edoka, Special Adviser to the Governor on Labour Matters; Hon. Williams Ameh, Executive Chairman of Olamaboro Local Government Area; Hon. Aboh Ibrahim, Special Adviser to the Governor on Environment; Sheikh Sani Momoh, Special Senior Assistant to the Governor on Ethics and Values (Kogi East), among others.

In his remarks, the Governor said that the vacuum left by the passing of the queen is deep and cannot be readily filled, emphasizing that her life epitomized kindness and selfless service to humanity.

Governor Ododo noted that the exemplary life of the deceased will persist as a beacon of inspiration for both the Kingdom and the state, urging leaders to strive for excellence and to serve the state with unwavering commitment.

He extolled the life and contributions of the late Queen Marie Ige Owoniyi and urged the citizens of Okun kingdom to commemorate her legacy by upholding her values of compassion and dedication to humanity. He also expressed his condolences to the Obaro of Kabba, the Okun Traditional Council, the bereaved family, and the Christian community over the loss of their matriarch, praying to God to grant her eternal repose.

The late Olori Marie Ige Owoniyi, FCA, Wife of the Obaro of Kabba, Slept in the Lord on the 18th of March 2025 at the age of sixty-four. She is survived by her relatives, Husband and three children.
