
The Executive Director, Kogi State Primary Health care Development Agency, Dr. Muazu Omeiza Musa, has called for collaborative effort at putting smiles on the faces of women and children in the society.
Dr. Muazu Omeiza Musa made the call while receiving members of the newly enugurated Committee members of Medical Women Association of Nigerian (MWAN) for 2025/2027 in his office.
The Medical Women’s Association of Nigeria (MWAN) is a professional organization of female medical doctors in Nigeria, dedicated to promoting women’s health and well-being.
Established in 1975 and formally inaugurated in 1977, MWAN has grown to become a prominent voice in the Nigerian healthcare sector, with over 7,000 members and 31 state branches across the country.
MWAN’s mission is to improve the health of Nigerians, particularly women and children, through information dissemination, advocacy, capacity building, and service delivery while maintaining quality healthcare for all.
According to him, “the people we are dealing with are not interested in the grammar we speak but in what we have to offer, let us touch lives, the way we talk and match them with actions will go a long way in changing lives of the citizenry”.
He called for the need to appreciate God for finding one’s self in the medical profession stressing that in the past, Doctors, Imams, Pastors and lawyers have great awe accompanying them urging MWAN to be dedicated to work at all times.
The Executive Director appealed to them to “take pride in themselves and what they do and be the people that the society would be proud of”.
Dr. Muazu Omeiza Musa stated further, “I express joy at the developments in MWAN and also noting that eighty percent of the activities of the group align with the aspirations and visions of Kogi State Primary Health care Development Agency”
While promising to collaborate and support them where possible, the Executive Director appreciated the state governor Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo for playing a pivotal in ensuring the promotion of health activities in the state
Dr. Muazu Omeiza Musa appreciated the team spirit between the Federal Teaching Hospital Lokoja and Shaffar hospital Lokoja, noting that the collaboration has gone a long way in saving several lives.
Earlier, the President of the group , Dr. Olufade Adefunmilayo said they were in the office to seek collaboration with the Agency on ways to move health activities in the state forward.
Dr. Olufade Adefunmilayo appreciated the effort of Dr. Muazu Omeiza Musa for changing the narrative and ordering a new beginning for Primary Health care Development in Kogi State.
A focal person in the activities of Kogi State Primary Health care Development Agency and a member of the Association, Dr. Hadiya Ismael Ahmed said the objectives of Association is in line with the activities of the Agency because they are More consigned about the vulnerables which have women and children saying the Agency is always available at all times.
In a vote of thanks, a member of the Association, Dr. Chinenye Ojonpa thanked the Executive Director for the warm reception and pledged on behalf of the Association to always be willing to do what is demanded of them.
