In continuation of the Measles Rubella campaign across schools in Kogi state, Executive Director, Kogi state Primary Health Care Development Agency, Doctor Muazu Omeiza Musa has advised parents to shun misunderstandings about the Vaccination.
Executive Director, Kogi state Primary Health Care Development Agency, Doctor Muazu Omeiza Musa gave the advice while attending to some children at Idah and the Federal Government College, Ugwolawo.
Measles and rubella are two distinct, highly contagious viral infections that are often confused because they both cause a rash, but are caused by different viruses. Rubella, also known as German measles, is typically mild in children but can be very dangerous for a fetus during pregnancy, leading to congenital rubella syndrome.
Measles, also called rubeola, is generally more severe and can cause serious complications, especially in young children and those with weakened immune systems but preventable with the MMR vaccine.
It can come inform of Mild fever, a rash that starts on the face and spreads, headache, swollen glands, and sore red eyes and can spread through the air when an infected person coughs or sneezes.
Speaking on the importance of the exercise, Doctor Muazu Omeiza Musa stressed that the wife of the President, Oluremi Tinubu and Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo would not have flagged it off, if the vaccines were not important.
He thanked the Attah Igala for the warm reception accorded him and advised that everyone work assiduously to ensure the eradication of the Measles Rubella virus.
Responding, the Attah Igala and President, Kogi Traditional Council of chiefs, His Royal Majesty, Matthew Alhaji Opaluwa promised his unalloyed support for the programme.
The Attah Igala who was represented by a chief in the Palace, Ajofe Ibrahim Attah thanked Executive Director for the visit and commended Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for his interest in the health sector of the state.
Also speaking, the Ohiegba-Mozum and focal person for SFPL, His Royal highness, Khalid Bukar commended the Attah for the prompt attention accorded the programme.
At the Federal Government College Ugwolawo, what would have looked like non compliance was quickly resolved by Executive Director, Doctor Muazu Omeiza Musa as the students were brought out for the exercise.
