A three day step down training for youth friendly health services in support of Human Papilloma Virus vaccination intensification has been held in Lokoja with a call to people of the state to ensure proper Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination

The Executive Director, Kogi State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr. Muazu Omeiza Musa stated this while declaring open a three day training at Ayonate Hotels, Lokoja

Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination intensification is a targeted effort to increase vaccination coverage against HPV, particularly among adolescent girls and young women.

The goal is to prevent cervical cancer and other HPV-related diseases by immunizing a larger percentage of the target population as HPV vaccination can reduce the risk of cervical cancer by up to 80% if administered before exposure to the virus.

Speaking during the training, the Executive Director, Kogi State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr. Muazu Omeiza Musa called on Parents and Guardians to get their children Vaccinated by ensuring the children, especially girls and boys aged 9-14, receive the HPV vaccine to protect them from cervical cancer and other HPV-related diseases.

According to him, parents should stay Informed by learning about the benefits and risks of HPV vaccination to make informed decisions about health and also urged them to educate their community about the importance of HPV vaccination and its benefits in preventing cervical cancer and other HPV-related diseases.

The Executive Director advised participants to take the training seriously and come out with workable plans that will ensure that HPV vaccination is done successfully across the state.

Present at the training were the UNICEF SBC, the SIO and PM RITWG.
