The event, which included a road show from the Ministry of Health to the State Government Secretariat (SGS), aimed to raise awareness about hepatitis, a viral infection that can lead to severe complications, including liver cancer and cirrhosis.

The Honourable Commissioner for Health, Dr. Adams Adeiza Abdulazeez, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Momoh Aziz Steven, emphasized the significance of the event, stating : “We are gathered to shine a light on a pressing public health concern that affects millions worldwide, including our state. As a Ministry, we recognize the importance of awareness, education, and advocacy for prevention and treatment strategies.”

Mr. Momoh highlighted the Kogi State Government’s commitment to providing quality healthcare services, under the leadership of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, noting that the government has been strengthening the healthcare system and believes that partnership with organizations like AMLSN is crucial in achieving the set goals.

The event underscored the importance of collaboration and awareness-raising in the fight against hepatitis, while the Association’s efforts were commended by the Ministry of Health.
