The *Kogi State Internal Revenue Service (KGIRS)*, in collaboration with the *Ministry of Commerce & Industry*, has successfully trained field officers on the newly introduced digital billing system.
The training, conducted by AOC staff, aimed at enhancing efficiency in revenue collection and payment processing across the state.
The Honourable Commissioner for Commerce & Industry, *Hon. Muhammed Muktar Shuaibu*, actively participated in the session, demonstrating the state government’s commitment to modernizing revenue administration through technology.
During the training, field officers were guided through the KGIRS platform, a new system designed to streamline billing, assessment, and payment tracking.
Key areas covered included:
– *Logging into the system* and navigating its features.
– *Viewing, processing, and managing bills digitally* to eliminate paperwork.
– *Validating taxpayer information* using Tax Identification Numbers (**N- for individuals, C- for corporate entities, and G- for government institutions*).
– *Raising and submitting assessments for approval* within the appropriate revenue categories.
Participants, including *Hon. Shuaibu*, engaged in hands-on demonstrations to familiarize themselves with the platform.
The Commissioner praised the initiative, emphasizing its potential to increase efficiency, transparency, and accountability in the revenue collection process, while also reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to leveraging technology for improved service delivery.
He encouraged officers to fully embrace the system, as it would significantly **simplify revenue management and enhance compliance.
The *Kogi State Government*, under the leadership of *His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo*, continues to push for digital transformation across all sectors, ensuring a more transparent and effective governance framework.
