The over one hundred and ten Kogi athletes have departed the state for the 2025 National Youth Games, holding in Asaba, Delta State.
Addressing the contingents at the Confluence Stadium Lokoja, before their departure, the State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Monday Anyebe, urged them to go all out to win medals for the state.
Hon Monday Anyebe said the State Governor, Usman Ododo had ensured that their welfare and safety was paramount.
The Commissioner who disclosed that the Kogi Under Fifteen athletes would be participating in about twenty games admonished them to be good ambassadors of the state.
He reiterated governments support to sports development in the state, stressing that they should ensure that their performance supercedes that of last year.
”It is paramount to note that the present administration has prioritized sports development, this is why you should go to win Gold medals for this state in order to consolidate on the achievements of His Excellency, the Chief Servant, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo”, he stated.
In a remark, the Director, Kogi State Sports Council, Abel Igah encouraged the athletes to put in their best and bring home more medals.
He said their performance in the National Youth Games would determine how far they will go in their sporting career.
