The week-long activities
marking the 2025 Kogi State Civil Service Week continued with a heartfelt Special Church Service held at the Secretariat Chapel, Lokoja, bringing together Christian civil servants in worship, thanksgiving, and prayer. The service also marked the successful conclusion of the free medical outreach organized for civil servants and the general public as part of the celebration.
The medical outreach, which commenced earlier in the week, provided free consultations, health screenings, and medications to hundreds of beneficiaries, further demonstrating the state government’s commitment to the welfare and well-being of its workforce.
Speaking during the Special Church Service, the Head of Civil Service, Dr. Elijah Evinemi, FCA, gave glory to God for the success of both the medical outreach and the ongoing celebration, describing the occasion as “a pause to reflect and be reminded that our service is not just to humanity, but ultimately to God.”
In his inspiring address, Dr. Evinemi charged civil servants to see their roles not merely as employment but as a divine calling; “You are not just employees of the state; you are stewards of the Most High God. Our roles in public service are divinely ordained. When we serve with diligence, compassion, and integrity, we reflect the character of Christ and contribute to peace, justice, and development,” he said.
He further urged workers to recommit themselves to transparency, accountability, and selfless service, stressing that a digitally transformed civil service must also be morally upright and spiritually grounded.
Dr. Evinemi also commended the medical team for their dedication and professionalism in ensuring the outreach’s success.
The conclusion of the medical outreach alongside the Special Church Service added depth to the 2025 Civil Service Week, which so far has featured a rich blend of welfare-driven, spiritual, and capacity-building activities.
The celebration continues with more events in the days ahead, culminating in the Civil Service Lecture and The award Night.
