Kogi State Government has officially launched the bid opening for the construction of the Lokoja International Market, in a move to enhance the commercial potential of the state and elevate its competitiveness on a global scale.

The proposed International Market is designed to complement the existing market infrastructure and position Kogi State as a key player in the exportation of goods and services to international markets.

The bid opening event, held at the State Secretariat Conference Hall in Lokoja, attracted a diverse range of companies vying for the opportunity to participate in the construction of the international market.

In his welcoming address, the Honorable Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Honorable Muhammed Muktar Shuaibu, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to witness such a significant occasion. He commended His Excellency, Kogi State Governor Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo for fostering an environment conducive to both local and foreign investments.

The Commissioner highlighted Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s track record of initiating impactful projects, citing the Multi-Billion Naira international market project as another example of his commitment to progress.

He emphasized the importance of recognizing and celebrating such initiatives to keep the people of Kogi State informed and engaged. The Commissioner also urged the technical committee formed for the bidding process to uphold fairness and transparency in their selection of bidders.

In his opening remarks, the Permanent Secretary of Commerce and Industry, Lamidi Salihu, underscored the objective of securing the best value for money in the services provided for the construction project. He emphasized the importance of meeting the high standards set by Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo to ensure the quality of the market infrastructure.
