Kogi State Government has called on Management of Dangote Cement PLC, Obajana to consider engaging indigenous youths in their scheme of things.
The State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Monday Anyebe made the call when he led appointees and management of the Ministry on a working visit to Dangote Cement PLC Obajana.
Hon. Anyebe said the call for youths engagement became necessary so as to reduce unemployment rate in the state.
The Commissioner who sited some the empowerment programmes being carried out by the company in some part of the country, said the State is yet to benefit from such.
In the Area of Sports, the Commissioner called for collective effort for the advancement of sporting activities in the state.
He appealed to the Company to partner with the State in renovating the Confluence Stadium, Lokoja.
While urging Management of Dangote Cement PLC to engage professional truck drivers so as to reduce high rate of accidents on highways across the country, Hon. Anyebe assured of the present administration under Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s commitment to providing a conducive atmosphere for their business.
Responding on behalf of Dangote Cement PLC, Obajana, the General Manager, Human Resource of the Company, Mr. Adeniyi Azeez disclosed that the company is up and doing in the area of Youth engagements, saying most of the workers are indigens of the State.
Mr. Adeniyi promised to relay their message to the appropriate quarter for onward action.
The General Manager commended the Commissioner and his team for the visit and called for continued collaboration.
The Commissioner was accompanied on the visit by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Youth and Student Affairs, Hon. Oladele John Nihi, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth and Women Mobilization, Hon. Charity Omole, Director Sports of the Ministry, Mr. David Ogazuma and Director Youths, Mrs. Motirayo Babatunde among others.
