Kogi State Specialist Hospital Takes Delivery of Cutting-Edge X-ray Digitizer, 4D Ultrasound Scan Machine, and Commences Dialysis Services

In a major boost to quality healthcare delivery, the Kogi State Specialist Hospital, Lokoja, on Monday, July 7, 2025, took delivery of a state-of-the-art cutting-edge X-ray Digitizer and 4D Ultrasound Scan machine, while also commencing full dialysis services.

This milestone aligns with the commitment of His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, the Executive Governor of Kogi State, to reposition the healthcare system for quality and accessible service delivery through strategic investments and infrastructural development.

Speaking to journalists in his office, the Ag. Chief Medical Director, Dr. Oluseyi Bamidele Folagbade, disclosed that the digitizer was generously donated by EverX Pty Limited, a reputable Australian-based company. The donation, he explained, was the result of a long-standing relationship he established with the company during his postgraduate studies in Australia over a decade ago.

Dr. Folagbade explained that the cutting-edge X-ray Digitizer will significantly enhance the hospital’s radiology services, enabling the delivery of digital X-rays with greater clarity and speed. He emphasized that the new system will expedite diagnosis and ultimately lead to faster, more accurate treatment for patients.

He also announced the delivery of a 4D Ultrasound Scan machine equipped with echocardiography capabilities. According to him, the machine is a modern, high-performance diagnostic tool, noting that it would significantly enhance the hospital’s capacity to manage cardiac-related ailments.

Dr. Folagbade further revealed that the dialysis machines procured by the previous administration of His Excellency Alhaji Yahaya Bello have now been fully installed and are currently in operation. He noted that the commencement of dialysis services has further elevated the hospital’s status among leading medical institutions in the state.

While appreciating Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for providing an enabling policy environment and infrastructural support for healthcare institutions to thrive, Dr. Folagbade praised the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abdulazeez Adams Adeiza, for his exceptional commitment to driving reform and innovation across the health sector. He described the Honourable Commissioner as a reform-driven administrator who has championed the Health Sector Renewal Investment Initiative using the Sector-Wide Approach (SWAp), with key focus on:

Since assuming office less than three months ago, Dr. Folagbade has embarked on transformative efforts to reposition the Kogi State Specialist Hospital for effective, efficient, and modern healthcare service delivery.
