The Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has been commended for taking giant strides towards the economic development of the state.

The Lieutenant Governor of Delaware, United State of America, Dr Bethany Hall-Long PhD, RNC FAAN made the commendation while receiving the state delegation to Delaware.

He expressed satisfaction with the team and reiterated the readiness of the state of Delaware to collaborate with the Kogi State Government to bring about the desired economic upliftment of the state.

Responding, the leader of the Kogi State, the State Commissioner for Finance, Budget and Economic Planning, Hon Idris Ashiru expressed the readiness of Kogi State to take advantage of the rich economic potentials of the State of Delaware.

He said Kogi State is a state that is in a hurry to develop, adding the present administration under Governor Yahaya Bello is very much committed to turning around the fortunes of the State.

The team later went into talks with the Lieutenant Governor of the state of Delaware, US, Dr Bethany Hall-Long PhD, RNC FAAN to explore areas of collaboration and opportunities for the economic development of the State.

Kogi State Deputy Governor,  Chief Edward Onoja joined the state delegates by zoom.

The team was led by the Hon. Commissioner for Finance, Budget and Economic Planning, Asiwaju Idris.

Other team members include the Hon Commissioners for Health, Dr Saka Haruna, Agriculture Honourable David Apeh, Rural Development, Honourable Daniel Ejigbo, Managing Director/CEO Kogi Enterprise Development Agency (KEDA), Hajiya Rekiya Onaivo Sanni, SA to the Governor on Inter-Governmental Affairs, Hon. Medinat Anako and Ambassador Aina Olusuji, Alternate Chairman of the Kogi State Economic Advisory Council.

It would be recalled that earlier this year, the Delaware Africa Caribbean Coalition (DACC) visited Kogi State to assess the business opportunities in the State.

The visit has necessitated the Kogi State Government delegation to trip to Delaware, USA.

The team will be expected to meet the expanded members of DACC, business leaders in the areas of Health, Education, Entrepreneurship, Agriculture, Youth & Empowerment and other explorable sectors to provide opportunities for the promotion of economic development of the state
