No Union Can Hold Kogi State To Ransom – Hon Baron

The Hon. Commissioner for Transportation, Hon Okoli Baron made the statement yesterday during a stakeholders meeting held with a delegation of Road Transport Employer’s Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) at the Kogi State Ministry of Transportation.

The Hon. Commissioner stated that fracas and crisis in the state often result in disaster atimes it goes bloody. Hence the state will not fold its hands and watch his people go to war in the name of unionism.He warned that any union that tend to disrupt the peaceful coexistence of the state will be outrightly scrapped.

Speaking further, the Hon. Commissioner emphasized that the ministry will not condone misbehavior that will alter the recommendation of the state, as one of the state free from security challenges under the led administration of Governor of Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello.

He called on the union to embrace peace, to
ensure optimal performances in the transportation sector.

The leader of the delegation, the First Assistant National Secretary General RTEAN, Alhaji Adamu Zubair Jalaludeen recounted that the union have been instrumental to the growth and development of Kogi State Transportation System, following it’s smooth operation in the state.

Alhaji Adamu Zubair said that the Road Transport Employer’s Association of Nigeria is the most oldest association in the transportation sector and that the association have been operating smoothly without choas. He added that going by the motto of the association, which centres peace, unity and progress, he see no reason why the reschuffling of the union’s leadership structure stir up issues, that will eventually result in crisis.

He went further to say that, it is the tradition of the association, in line with the provision of the constitution guiding the association that anybody vying for leadership position must go through election, so in the spirit of live and let’s live that the union adopted the method of election by selection to election members to occupy leadership positions in the union.

Furthermore, Alhaji Adamu Zubair explicitly explained the dualization of the wealth experience and wisdom of the old and the exuberance of the youth will go a long way to provide an enabling environment for the Road Transport Workers.

In his submission, the Assistant National Secretary General said that going by the name of the association, ” Road Transport Employer’s Association of Nigeria ” the association has provided employment for the youth, sequel to the need to be gainfully employed.
Going by the above stated, he said putting into cognizance the present situation of the country, the union will give in its all to actively engage the youth, so as for the youth not to be redundant.

Alhaji Adamu Zubair appreciated and commended the effort of the State Government under the leadership of Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello for his efforts moving the transportation sector to a greater height. He described the Governor as a true and dynamic leader with youthful exuberance and nationalistic views.

In addition, the Senior Special Adviser to the Governor on Security Matters, Commander Jerry Omodara enjoined the union to speak with and work under one umbrella. Above all, he urged them to embrace peace to ensure ultimate support and cooperation.

Going forward, he said that the State Government commended the effort of the union in the transportation sector, adding that the State Government look forward to more open doors.

The Commander however, charged the union to stand firm and remain resolute in the course to move the union forward.

In the same vein, the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Transportation Alhaji Jibrail Abdullahi Okeme in his wisdom also advised the Road Transport Employer’s Association of Nigeria to carve a niche for themselves in the transportation sector by sitting on top of their game.

In his closing remarks, the Hon. Commissioner for transportation, Hon. Joseph Baron Okwoli
thanked the delegation for their time and effort in pursuance of peace and progress of the union and prayed the good Lord that directed their path to Kogi State will safely take them back to their various destinations.
