Kogi State Governor Alhaji Yahaya Bello has expressed the readiness of the State Government to host the 29th edition of the Nigerian Media Merit Award in the State.
Speaking through the Secretary to Kogi State Government, Dr Mrs Folashade Arike Ayode, Gov Bello said the state government was fully ready and that necessary mechanism have been put in place for successful hosting of the award.
He described the theme of the Award ” Engaging Kogi State today for Tomorrow” as appropriate, noting that the NMMA engaging the State was a preparation for a better Kogi State and Nigeria.
The team leader of the NMMA, Mr Yemi Akeju said the award was an avenue to appreciate those who have paid their dues in media industry and to raise the standard of media practice not only in Nigeria but in Africa at large.
According to him, the vision of the NMMA is to partner with state governments to showcase what governments are doing in their various locations.
A Memorandum of Understanding, MOU, for the hosting of the 29th Edition of the Nigeria Media Merit Award, NMMA, was later signed between the Administrators of the award and Kogi State in Lokoja.
The event is holding between 28th and 31st of October this year.
In a preliminary inspection of the facilities in place for the event, the Administrators expressed expressed satisfaction on the facilities, adding that what they seen on the round is a pointer to the preparedness of the State.
They, however, pointed out areas that needed to be improved upon.
Responding, the Coordinator of the Local Organising Committee, Dr Ronke Bello assured them that the grey areas would be worked upon and that by the next visit of the Administrators, the State would be 100% ready.
