The State Commissioner for Health, Dr Saka Audu Haruna disclosed this in a message while interacting with the executive members of Traditional Medical Practitioners in Lokoja.

The Commissioner who was represented by the Director of Pharmaceutical Services , Pharm. Muhammed Abdulrahaman said that the Board would bring all traditional medicine Practitioners under one umbrella in the State.

The Commissioner noted that the World Health Organisation before now has recognized the activities of local medicine in the nation , hence the need for the establishment of the board in all states of the Federation.

According to him, the board if establish in the state would liase with the Federal Government to promote their activities ,it would also help to introduced policy in which their activities would be regulated according to the law of the land.

Dr Saka stated that the Ministry is willing to partner with the body to reduce other illness in the state and would help in improving the economic of the State.

He also explain that training and retraining workshop for practitioner would also be made available and called on them to reconcile with their members for the growth and development of their association.

Speaking, the Senior Special Assistant to the Kogi State Governor on Alternative Medicine, Mallam Mustapha Onoruiza said the aim of the interactive session was to intimate the practitioners on the government position on issues concerning health that needs serious attention in the state.

Mallam Mustapha added that the need for Traditional medicine Practitioners to go into research and come up with solution that would help prevent and cure diseases can not be over emphasised.

He added that a unit would be established in the ministry to bring members closer to the government and special talent would also be discovered.

The SSA also explain that valid license would be given to members for equity and accountability hence Government assistance would be given to registered members.

He commended the State Governor Alh. Yahaya Bello and the Commissioner for health for this great initiative.
