The Kogi State Government has expressed readiness to work with the Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria to ensure the ethics of advertising are adhered to bring sanity to the industry.

The state Commissioner for Information and Communication, Hon Kingsley Femi Fanwo made this known while receiving officials of of Council in his Office, Thursday, saying the administration will support APCON to succeed in its task.

He charged APCON to live up to its responsibility as the conscience of the society in matters of commercial communication and a watchdog for consumers urging the Council to also manage the need and interests of the Stakeholders in Nigeria’s Advertising Industry

His words: “The Administration is satisfied with the decision pf APCON to finally open an office in Kogi State which has become a destination of choice for all. We have created an enabling environment as a Government to support organizations to thrive.

“The Administration of Alh. Yahaya Bello believes in the need for proper regulation of the Advertising industry in order to ensure that members of the public are not fed with toxic information that could destabilize the nation. APCON must rise to the challenge of ensuring that advertisements do not run foul of constitutional standards. We must promote peace and unity with our message”.

Responding, the Zonal Head of APCON, Mr Today Taiwo said the Council wants to make their presence felt in Kogi State by establishing a robust relationship with the Government of Kogi State in order for to serve the State better.

He pledged to work with the State Government’ also in in area of capacity building through training of Media Managers and Marketing Heads of Media agencies for optimal performance.
