Kogi Enterprise Development Agency, KEDA has urged prospective beneficiaries of the KG-CARES (Covid-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus) programme to use the funds to be disbursed strictly for business purposes.
The MD/CEO Hajiya Rekiya Sanni who was represented by the Executive Director Operations, Mr Akin Akinola gave this charge at the one-day sensitisation meeting with the Market Women Association in Kogi State.
Mr Akinola while intimating the association on the KG-CARES programme, emphasised the need for the beneficiaries to make judicious use of these funds and not to divert them for private use.
The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on SMEs, Honourable Abubakar Mohammed in his opening remarks, noted the importance of the sensitisation meeting was to ensure the association has accurate information on the programme. He further stated that KG-CARES is aimed at alleviating the poverty level of Kogi State, hence, resuscitating businesses that were adversely affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
He added that, the Kogi government has the SME sector as one of its top priorities in its agenda and it is committed to ensuring that Kogi becomes a safe heaven for entrepreneurs as well as foreign investors.
Market women’s leaders present lauded the Bello- led administration for his prompt intervention in the SME sector while appreciating the unrelenting efforts of KEDA management to ensure the continuity of businesses in the state.
They cautioned members against diverting the funds for personal use, adding that, their businesses should be top on their priorities.
Present at the meeting were the management and staff of KEDA, women groups and the market women association.
Highpoint of the event were questions fielded from participants which was comprehensively answered by KEDA’s members of staff.
