Gov Bello Presents Staff Of Office To 104 Traditional Rulers

The traditional institution is pivotal to social development.

The Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello stated this during the presentation of staff of office to 140 newly appointed, graded and upgraded traditional rulers in Lokoja, Kogi State. He described the assertion as the reason his administration consciously and deliberately includes traditional rulers in programmes and policies.

Describing traditional rulers as custodians of culture and traditions, he said they are responsible for peace, unity and progress in the state.

Governor Bello described the occasion as a celebration of our tradition, culture and people.

In his remarks, the Commissioner of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Barr. Salami Ozigi described the impeccable appointment, grading and upgrading process as a measure of Governor Bello’s resolve to enhance the traditional institution.

The Attah Igala, HRM Michael Alhaji Opaluwa in his goodwill message expressed appreciation to GYB administration for the appointment, grading and upgrading. The Royal Father urged all to live in fairness, love and the fear of God and expressed his commitment to the peaceful coexistence of ethnic groups in Kogi State.Of a total of 104 newly appointed, graded and upgraded stools,there are 31 first class, 30 second class and 43 third class traditional rulers cutting across the 3 senatorial districts of the state.
