KOGI STATE PROJECT MONITORING OFFICE PROGRESS UPDATE

Kogi state project monitoring office is saddled with the responsibilities of monitoring all the State sponsored and partnered projects. We monitor both the supervising Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) and the contractors.

In line with our saddled responsibilities we have monitored the following projects:

Responsibilities:

1.    Up to date project information keeping:- we keep up to date information of all on-going and abandoned projects.

2.    Vetting of valuation certificate:- Our office vets valuation certificates raised by the contractors. We do this by going the respective site to ascertain the claims of the contractors by checking both qualities and quantities of actual work done at the site.   

3.    Project monitoring exercise:- We pay un-schedule site visit to contractors in order to avoid stage management of equipments and general site activities. This site visit is aimed at making sure contractors are working according to designs and specifications.

In the course of our routine monitoring exercise; observations are raised, site instructions are issued to contractors and we follow up to ensure total compliance to these instructions e.g.

i.            Wrong alignment and poor quality of drainage system to Ibana junction/Okpo/Ette road. Site instruction was issued to the contractor and demolition and correction of the affected chainages were carried out.

ii.            Rehabilitation of welcome to Lokoja/ Army Barracks/Ganaja Junction/ Nataco Junction Road, Lokoja. Laying of poor quality Asphalt along Revenue House to post office junction. Site instruction was issued to the contractor and corrections were carried out accordingly.

iii.            Rehabilitation of Kabba township Road, inadequate width of the carriage way was observed and we advised that, the adjacent fence should be demolished to create adequate width for the carriage way.

iv.            Construction of 21km, Obeira Okengwe/Obangede  Road, failure of some primed  sections of the road was observed. Site instruction was issued to the contractor to carryout maintenance work before Asphalt overlay.

v.            Ankpa township road, the drainage system is of good quality but slow pace of work. We issued site instruction to the contractor to expedite action.

vi.            In summary, all the projects visited above, various observations were raised, site instructions were issued to contractors and we follow up to ensure that corrections were effected.

Projection

To ensure contractors continuous adherence to projects designs and specifications in order to deliver high quality infrastructures to the good people of Kogi State.
