A road walk to Mark this year’s World Contraception Day was held in Lokoja today.

The walk which took off at the state Ministry of Health terminated at the office of the Kogi State Primary Health care Development Agency was in collaboration with the state Ministry of Health.

World Contraception Day, observed annually, aims to promote awareness and understanding of contraception, empowering individuals to make informed decisions about their reproductive health.

The day emphasizes the importance of access to safe and effective contraceptive methods, reducing unintended pregnancies and improving public health outcomes.

Speaking on the significance of the day, the Executive Director, Kogi State Primary Health care Development Agency, Dr. Muazu Omeiza Musa, said the World Contraception Day (WCD) is significant as it raises awareness, promotes education, empowers individuals, reduces unintended pregnancies, supports reproductive rights and improves maternal and child health.

According to him, the theme for this year’s World Contraception Day, “A choice for all”. Agency, Intention and Access” emphasizes the importance of autonomy and informed decision-making in reproductive health.

On her part, the state Family Planning Coordinator, Mrs. Fausat Sumaila advised the people to prioritize informed, safe choices for sexual and reproductive health using dual contraception and STI Prevention.

While commending Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for his unwavering support to the health sector, the state Family planning Coordinator thanked the workerholic Executive Director, Dr. Muazu Omeiza Musa for his tireless effort in ensuring the growth of the Agency and for making the day possible.

The one day event witnessed a turnout of staff of the Agency and the Ministry of Health.
