As we all know, the importance of water to human existence cannot be over-emphasized. It is in realization of this fact that governments at all levels have been doing everything humanly possible to make water available to its citizens. In Kogi State, for instance, since the present administration under the leadership of Governor Ibrahim Idris took over the mantle of leadership, the water sector has received tremendous attention which we can proudly say is the first since the creation of Kogi State. The award of contract for the construction of greater Lokoja water project is the biggest water project to be ever embarked upon by any state government in the Nigeria. With the support of His Excellency to the Board, we have been able to some extent met the water needs of the people of the State. We are not saying we have done that hundred percent but with God on our side we will get there. The present leadership both in the Ministry of Water Resources and Rural Development and Kogi State Water Board has shown commitment and passion towards making water available to the teaming masses of Kogi State and these they have done by reactivating some broken down water schemes across the state. The Board is therefore very grateful to Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris for his unprecedented attention to the water sector.
