1. Organize and carry out the collection, removal and disposal of refuse in the State.
2. Organize and carryout Street cleaning.
3. Promote encourage and poster the maintenance of clean and healthy environment in the State.
4. Ensure that owners or occupiers of premises clean and keep their premises and surrounding free from wall undergrowths, weeds, filth, rubbish,liters, waste, refuse, obstruction of any description or any other nuisance.
5. Ensure that the Streets or drains, gutters, channels, water courses are cleared and kept clean by the owners or occupiers of premises adjoining such streets, drains or gutters
6. Ensure that all obstructions of whatever description including stray animals, abandoned vehicles or scraps are cleared from the Streets and public places.
7. Remove, destroy or demolish all illegal houses, buildings or structures within the State.
8. Liaise with the appropriate department for effective collection and disposal of refuse.
9. Other advice to the Governor on cost effective environmental cleaning or refuse or waste management.
10. Mention data of refuse or waste generated in the State.
11. Manage and control pest.
12. Remove and bury dead bodies left or abandoned on a highway or in any other place.
13. Control or remove lunatics, drunks, beggars and other wandering persons on highways in any other public place. Perform all other things that may be consequential or incidental to those function or other duties or functions as may be assigned to it by the Governor from time to time.
