The functions of the Board are:
i.      To establish, equip, manage and maintain the State library.
ii.      Establish, equip, manage and maintain branches of the State Library having regard for all the Local Government Areas that comprise the state.
iii.     Operate a school Library division for the Development and promotion of library facilities in Educational Institutions or Establishments in the State.
