MAJOR FESTIVALS

The state is greatly endowed with rick colourful festival. These festivals include:


1.       Italo Festival; It is an annual assembly of all Igala sons and daughters involving traditional music and dances at Anyigba. During this festival, the Attah of Igala (the paramount ruler of Igala Kingdom) addresses his subjects.

2.       Ekuechi Festival: This is an annual festival in Ebiraland held to mark the end of lunar year. It is a unique occasion characterized by philosophical songs and attractive dances.

3.       Ovia-Osese: This is a traditional festival among Ogori-Magongo people which celebrates the chastity of women and initiative adolescent girls into womanhood.

4.       Lokoja Fishing Festival: This is an annual fishing festival held in Lokoja and conducted on the Niger river.

5.       Egbe Festival: This is an annual rites of reburial for past Onu of Egume in Dekina Local Government Area.

6.       Epa Festival: It is a normal annual masquerade festival celebrated at Iya Gbedde in Ijumu Local Government Area.
