Kogi State Broadcasting Corporation

Kogi State Broadcasting Corporation came into existence immediately Kogi State was created in August 1991. This was possible because the State inherited three Booster Stations from both Kwara and Benue States.

While Otite and Egbe 100 kilowatts transmitter stations were inherited from Kwara State, Ochaja, a 50 kilowatts transmitter station was inherited from Benue State. Ochaja Station was able to cover wider areas including neighbouring States.

The establishment of Kogi State Broadcasting Corporation was useful because Kogi State indigenes working in Radio Stations in Kwara and Benue States could be deployed to appropriate place of work.

Again Government’s policies and programmes could be broadcast to the citizenry.

The Corporation, which was set up under Prince Abubakar Audu’s administration was headed by a General Manager, Mr. Isah Edime. He ruled briefly before handling over to Alhaji Abu Onaji.

When Abu Onaji retired in 2003, Mr. Aloysius Achegbulu took over. He handed over the management to Mr. Gabriel Amobeda on retirement.

Gabriel Amobeda had not stayed long before he was replaced by  a new Acting General Manager  to oversee the Corporation’s Administration. He is Mallam Mohammed Halilu.

The Corporation has six different but related departments. They are Engineering, Programmes, News & Current Affairs, Administration, Commercial and Financial & Accounts.
